{Children} Kayla & Kade

Normally I do not post a session until the client has a chance to see all of the pictures; however, with this client living several hours away, she asked if I would do it because she was so eager to see them. I'm happy to oblige!

I first met Trina maybe just under two years ago at a playgroup for our kids - her oldest and my youngest are around the same age. I liked her immediately - very warm, fun to talk to, easy to get along with and in a similar stage of life! Then our husbands took a Men of Integrity study together and hit it off! Recently they moved away before we even had a chance to meet Kade, so I was thrilled when she said she was coming down for a day and wondered if I'd be able to squeeze them in for a little session. Of course!

Not that I needed much convincing, but she said she would be willing to bring down her old pram; this beast (which I say with much affection) was used by her and her four siblings when they were kids and it weighs a ton. Which is why it is still in amazing condition, considering the things Trina said they used it for!

Trina, thanks for fitting me into your short stay - it was so great to see you again, meet Kade and see Kayla's growing personality. Hope you love the pictures!

{Family} Carlin & Jen

This family is not new to my blog; I did their maternity and newborn sessions in recent months, and now that their little guy, Tyson, is 6 months old, they wanted to do an outdoor family session. We arranged to do the session at a farm in town where I had recently done another session. The weather was perfectly warm and ever-so-slightly overcast. But I tell you, the mosquitoes were like nothing I have ever seen before in my life. No amount of bug spray made a difference and we all came away with so many bites; I felt so bad (and pretty itchy too!).

Jen & Carlin, thanks for meeting with me and so graciously enduring the mosquitoes. Maybe next time we'll have to wrap ourselves in mosquito netting...?

{Newborn} Cassandra

This session was very special for me because Julie and I go way back. We first met at summer camp when we were 14 (or 16? I'm too old to remember) and worked there for a few years together, building our friendship. Then we went to Bible college. Together. And roomed together. It was a blast and the stories we could tell of each other and that year would take some time, so I'll skip most of them. We did, however, get a few pranks pulled on us, including a couple guys who broke into our room after we'd left to go home for Christmas break, and stuffed sardines in multiple spots in our room. Oh, the stench!

Anyway, Julie announced her first pregnancy to me on my wedding day, so Jake is coming up on 7-years-old. Then there's Katie, who is just a couple of months older than our daughter, at age 5. They had decided they were done having kids, but four years later changed their minds and decided to have one more. Enter this brand-new beauty, Cassandra Grace.

Nate and Julie have lived in Vancouver and North Vancouver for their 10 years of marriage except for a year in the middle, but then just before Cassie was born, they moved much closer to me again due to a business decision. To have them just half an hour away is exciting for me and I look forward to spending more regular time together with her again.

Thank you, Nate & Julie, for asking me to come and capture some time with your new family of five. Cassandra is gorgeous, totally loved and is such a precious gift. Congratulations!

{Children} Tianna

This little sweetheart is my cousin's daughter, Tianna, who recently celebrated her second birthday. She is the third of three girls and is seemingly having no trouble finding her place in the family; full of spunk and fun! You can see a session I did of the family last summer, right over here.

Chris and Myrna are originally from Alberta and we have spent many summer and Christmas holidays staying on the farm that Myrna grew up on, but they moved out here to BC so Chris could work on - and finish - his Masters of Divinity. So for the past two years, we've had the privilege of them living just 20 minutes away, something Myrna, myself and our kids have especially been able to enjoy with lots of playdates.

However, Chris did get his Masters and his new job found them back in Alberta, so we had them over for dinner a couple of weeks ago and took the opportunity to go to the park so I could capture some of Tianna's spunk as a new 2-year-old. What fun it was! I hope you enjoy the beauty of this family in these pictures.
