An Announcement

To my amazing clients,

Last January I was offered an administrative position at our church three, half days a week. We accepted that position as it was in line with my background/skills and was ideal with the kids' school schedule and helped me get my foot back into the 'working world.' That's not to say that raising kids and/or being a photographer isn't work! I just mean back into the scheduled, regular hours, co-workers type of work :)

After some casual conversations with our office manager in past months, I finally had a more official ask at my 6 month review last month as to whether or not I would consider working five days a week. As we considered this, we knew that it meant letting photography go. Even though the schedule would still be just while the kids were in school, we did not want to have me continually away on weekends and busy editing during the evenings. We wanted to protect time together as a family.

So we accepted and I start next Monday.

It's going to be hard to let photography go as I have really loved it! I am considering 2-3 mini-session days per year depending on how things go, such as in the fall (for Christmas pictures) and in Spring or Summer. I can't commit either way at this point but I'd love if it worked out that way.

I am excited about having Saturdays with the kids. For having a predictable(ish) routine. For having steady income on my part. For having evenings with my husband. For the challenge and blessing of these new responsibilities.

Thank you for the privilege of photographing you as families and couples, allowing me into your home as you welcomed a new baby, for meeting with me as extended family, all to capture moments in time, seasons of life. I am grateful for your recommendation of me to other people - I have operated solely on word of mouth and I thank you for every time you've passed my name on and spoken well of me. I simply could not have done it without you!

Thank you!
Kelly

PS. I will continue to post sessions here until I'm caught up...whenever that shall be!

{Newborn} Joelle Marie

Check out this sweet little baby girl, Joelle! I loved all her dark hair and her petite button nose! She really didn't want to be held by Santa but I have seen so many Santa pictures with crying kids I thought it was totally fitting.

Thanks, Yves & Jenn for welcoming me into your home to capture these images of Joelle!

I met Annette several years ago through her sister-in-law who is the daughter to my husband's former boss. Ha! I know, that was the simplest way to say it. But anyway, this was a fun session! These kids are energetic and hilarious. There's something about the youngest of every family, I usually have to work the hardest to get their trust or have them feel comfortable around me. But eventually, it came!

Enjoy!

Last year, this sweet family welcomed their third son, Struan Marshall. Isn't he just the most handsome baby boy?? And the older two are so much fun to chat with too...something about this family that is just so relaxing and enjoyable to be around!

{Family} D, C & T

I have photographed this family before, and they are good friends of ours that we have been in a Life Group together with for eight years. So this was last October I did their session and it was fun to have the dogs in the session too! Love the colors we caught with the leaves and with their outfits :)

Return clients are awesome, especially when they're friends. Either they really value what you do, or they feel really guilty about hiring someone else. Kidding. Well, I choose to believe the first reason because I'm not one that doesn't get quickly offended so if someone decides to hire another photographer, so be it - you have to find the person that suits you best.

For a moment there I wondered if I was sharing too much but then I thought about the session and how it went. The first time around. It went great until I got home and loaded the pictures on my computer and saw that I had accidentally changed a setting and they were all out of focus. In their gracious kindness, they were available to meet me the following day to do it over. And while their youngest was not as cheery as the prior day, the other kids and I sure had a blast - they were already comfortable with me since we had been together the day before.

So, I say again, I have fantastic clients and I am so thankful for their kindness to me in regards to this session!
