{Newborn} Micah

This beautiful family of four goes to the same church as we do, though I think we actually met on a retreat a year or more ago. They now have the excitement of raising 'two under two' as Kate is 17 months old and sweet Micah arrived just over a week early.

It worked out perfectly to go just a few blocks to their house for this newborn session and Micah slept very peacefully for the first little bit and then was ready to take in some of the excitement of what was going on around him.

Kate was such a curious sweetheart, wanting to have any piece of technology I had on me - camera, phone, camera, camera. She has the best smile and was so much fun to snap away at. Both kids did such a fantastic job, I was so impressed. What a fun session!

Thanks, Luke & Joanne, for inviting me to photograph Micah and your family in the first 10 days of being a family of four. Looking forward to watching your kids grow and become playmates and friends - it seems inevitable with them being this close in age :)

{Extended Family} Kevin & Stephanie

Over a year ago, I went to a blogger luncheon...a bunch of people who read each others blogs but had never met in real life (most of us, anyway), and that's where I met Stephanie. She is also a photographer and we had chatted briefly about that, enough for her to remember a year later that I had been getting into the business. Her sister-in-law was coming into town and they were hoping to get some extended family pictures of Kevin's family. Kevin also does photography with Stephanie so there is certainly an element of fear going into a session like this. However, they were both incredibly gracious and told me right off the bat that they were letting me lead the session and put any fears at bay immediately.

The other difference with photographing fellow photographers is that there often is no shortage of photos of their children. So the main focus of this session was the whole family, getting Stephanie in front of the camera with everyone and on her own, and a few different groups of the adults.

It was a beautiful evening at a new location for me, and there were no mosquitoes which was a very pleasant surprise. The low evening sun ended our session with a beautiful glow and some lovely sun flares.

Thank you, Kevin & Stephanie for the honor of photographing your family. It was an enjoyable evening to visit with you, watch your beautiful family interact, and work at the 'fear' of photographing someone else in the business. I hope you like the pictures!

{Children} Kayla & Kade

Normally I do not post a session until the client has a chance to see all of the pictures; however, with this client living several hours away, she asked if I would do it because she was so eager to see them. I'm happy to oblige!

I first met Trina maybe just under two years ago at a playgroup for our kids - her oldest and my youngest are around the same age. I liked her immediately - very warm, fun to talk to, easy to get along with and in a similar stage of life! Then our husbands took a Men of Integrity study together and hit it off! Recently they moved away before we even had a chance to meet Kade, so I was thrilled when she said she was coming down for a day and wondered if I'd be able to squeeze them in for a little session. Of course!

Not that I needed much convincing, but she said she would be willing to bring down her old pram; this beast (which I say with much affection) was used by her and her four siblings when they were kids and it weighs a ton. Which is why it is still in amazing condition, considering the things Trina said they used it for!

Trina, thanks for fitting me into your short stay - it was so great to see you again, meet Kade and see Kayla's growing personality. Hope you love the pictures!

{Sneak Peak} Kayla & Kade

Here's what I'm currently working on: the gorgeous, blue-eyed pair of Kayla and Kade.

{Family} Carlin & Jen

This family is not new to my blog; I did their maternity and newborn sessions in recent months, and now that their little guy, Tyson, is 6 months old, they wanted to do an outdoor family session. We arranged to do the session at a farm in town where I had recently done another session. The weather was perfectly warm and ever-so-slightly overcast. But I tell you, the mosquitoes were like nothing I have ever seen before in my life. No amount of bug spray made a difference and we all came away with so many bites; I felt so bad (and pretty itchy too!).

Jen & Carlin, thanks for meeting with me and so graciously enduring the mosquitoes. Maybe next time we'll have to wrap ourselves in mosquito netting...?
