{Newborn} Avery Ann

Remember Justin & Racheal's maternity session? Well, the day she picked up the DVD of those images, she shared a few things that led us to believe their baby would arrive in the next few days. And sure enough, Avery Ann arrived a day or two later (I'm sorry I can't remember...this is why I should be more on top of my blogging!). It wasn't an easy birth or recovery but they are doing well now!

I honestly could not stop staring at this little beauty. Just check out her hair! And her delicate features...so adorable, so tiny! Justin and Racheal cranked the heat and I used a white noise app for the first time and she s.l.e.p.t. so well. It was amazing!

It was also fantastic to see her a few weeks later at a 90th birthday party (my husband and Racheal are cousins). She's growing and cute as can be. Thank you, Justin and Racheal for allowing me to photograph your precious little girl. I look forward to watching her grow (love having babies in the family!)

{Gender Reveal} Josh & Sarah

If you've been here before, you'll likely recognize this couple. Sarah contacted me somewhere around the end of her first trimester/end of her second trimester I believe, to do a gender reveal session with her and Josh. Um yeah, so exciting! This also meant that Sarah drove half an hour to deliver the sealed envelope from her doctor indicating what they were having. This is kiddo #4, their third together, and also their last (that's the plan, anyway).

I closed the door, waited for Sarah to drive away and then excitedly opened the envelope to see what news it held. I somehow imagined it would be a piece of paper indicating in huge font, 'boy' or 'girl.' Not so. I had to carefully read through every corner of the paper to see what it said. Bottom corner held the secret. And it was pretty exciting to have that secret to myself (well, and my kiddos).

We discussed several ideas for how we would reveal the baby's gender and settled on helium balloons. I knew of the helium shortage and so I asked around and found a local store that had helium balloons. I went into the store and spoke with the owner the day before and had everything arranged. I went in the next morning...only to be told they ran out overnight (who uses helium overnight????). Seriously panicked. The next store I tried had helium but would only do Mylar balloons; thankfully they had the color I wanted, even though they were stars instead of just round balloons.

Then came the challenge of getting them to pop out of the box I had. Oh man...husband to the rescue and patience from Josh & Sarah as I ended up being late. The balloons didn't quite pop out of the box as I had hoped, but it was a great learning experience and I think their reaction was the best part of it all.

Sarah and Josh - thanks for involving me in this very exciting session and congratulations!

{Newborn} Cooper Ronald

This sweet little boy was born into a pretty great family! Rocky and Mel go to our church and their oldest son, Easton, is right between my own kids; Griffin - boy #2 - is three, and then Cooper arrived March 31st to round out their beautiful family!

Mel is a gifted violinist and I have had the privilege of playing alongside her for different church events and services, and we first got to know each other a bit at a mom's group at our church. So I was super excited when she asked me to do Cooper's newborn pictures.

Such a sweet little guy - he did great, as did his big brothers! Thank you for having me in your home to capture your handsome boy(s)!
