{Family} Doug & Carolyn

My husband and I love this family! Carolyn and I met at college and shared the bathroom that joined our rooms. I photographed them last summer at Dundarave Beach and we were so excited that they were coming to visit again this summer. Our visits always fly by and we always wish we had more time but we are incredibly grateful for the time they take to drive out here (from Saskatchewan!) and that they make time for us.

Soon after they returned home, Carolyn texted me to say they were expecting another baby and that was so exciting to hear! She also asked how our kids were feeling because their oldest, Micah, had been getting headaches and feeling nauseous since returning home.

Ten weeks later (this past week) and we heard from Doug and Carolyn that Micah has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Today at noon (11am here in BC), Micah - 9 years old - is having surgery to remove the tumor, which shows to be attached or growing from the brain stem.

As you can see in these pictures from their session, Micah is so joyful. He has such a contagious smile and is such a great kid! This family is well-loved and supported right now, but they need as many prayers as possible.

Doug & Carolyn, we love you and your kids! Thank you for letting me do your family pictures again, and know we are praying for you. We wish we could be there to help so much more practically.

{Newborn} Alexander Joseph

I love this family - Julie and I go waaay back and you may recognize them from previous sessions. I did their first session when Cassie was born, and then again last April (one of my all-time favorite family sessions).

I was not at all surprised when she told me she was expecting Alex...I had been shocked when she was pregnant with Cassie because I was so sure they were done with two kids (they were sure for years too, but something changed and they decided to have another). But with the age gap between Katie and Cassie, I had a feeling they'd add one more to have another playmate for Cassie.

For Alex's newborn session, Julie's parents were in town from the Island, and I know them from way back in the day when Julie and I met at camp and they were very involved there too. It was great to see them again and chat while we worked on getting Alex to sleep in each pose. Such a great time with them on a very warm July day!

Congratulations again you guys - another beautiful baby in your family!

{Newborn} Wyatt Martin

Yep, I'm behind again! So let's just jump right back into it with this handsome little guy that I met back at the end of June.

I met Carol through my sister-in-law, Shereen; and Carol's oldest and my youngest are around the same age - woot! Anyway, such a laid back family (third child 'syndrome'?) and it made for such a relaxing session. Carol wanted mostly pictures of Wyatt and a few family pictures, so that's just what we did!It took some patience getting Wyatt back to sleep after every position change, but he did and it all worked out! I love newborn sessions....they are so sweet and cuddly!

Thanks, Carol and Trevor, for having me come and capture your family of five!
