{Family} Doug & Carolyn

This was an incredibly special session for me to do, as Doug and Carolyn are good friends of ours. Carolyn and I were bathroom buddies in college (in that we and our roommates all shared a bathroom), though it wasn't until after she and Doug were married and my husband and I got married, that we really connected.

It's unfortunate that we now live a couple of provinces away from each other and only see each other every few years. We did both live in BC for a couple of years, back when their first two kids were born, and then they moved away just before baby #3 arrived. They were in town for a visit and we were able to spend their last day here with them, so they got to meet our youngest (now three!) and we met their youngest (just one year old).

They used to live in North Vancouver, so we had talked about a few different locations there, but in the end they chose Dudarave Beach in West Vancouver - a place we had never been before but can't wait to go back. It was so beautiful there and such a comfortable temperature with a bit of a breeze. Oh, and the whole family is so naturally photogenic is was super easy to just enjoy them without feeling at all like I was working!

Doug & Carolyn, it was such a delight to spend the day with you - it was refreshing, beautiful, fun and such a blessing to see you again. You are such a beautiful family and your kids are amazing. We really miss you and look forward to when we get to visit again. And thanks for introducing us to such a wonderful spot!

{Maternity} Josh & Sarah

On a rather warm (or hot, in my opinion) day in August, I met up with Josh, Sarah, Braedon and Cali for some maternity pictures. Granted, I had no reason to complain about the heat...Sarah was 39 weeks pregnant! You would think the combination of 39 weeks and the crazy heat would have been swelling, but not so - she looked amazing and was really relaxed about everything.

This was my first opportunity to do an outdoor maternity session as it seems most of the people I've photographed have been in studio during the colder months. The sunlight was a bit of a challenge, being the middle of the day, but I think we worked it out just fine and everyone managed to get through the heat.

Their sweet daughter, Maysa, was born about a week after our session and is cute as can be, looking so much like her big sister and Daddy. Congratulations Josh, Sarah, Braedon and Cali - Maysa is so beautiful! Thanks for allowing me to photograph part of your last week as a family of four :)
