{Newborn} Struan Marshall

Last year, this sweet family welcomed their third son, Struan Marshall. Isn't he just the most handsome baby boy?? And the older two are so much fun to chat with too...something about this family that is just so relaxing and enjoyable to be around!

I have photographed this family before, and they are good friends of ours that we have been in a Life Group together with for eight years. So this was last October I did their session and it was fun to have the dogs in the session too! Love the colors we caught with the leaves and with their outfits :)

Return clients are awesome, especially when they're friends. Either they really value what you do, or they feel really guilty about hiring someone else. Kidding. Well, I choose to believe the first reason because I'm not one that doesn't get quickly offended so if someone decides to hire another photographer, so be it - you have to find the person that suits you best.

For a moment there I wondered if I was sharing too much but then I thought about the session and how it went. The first time around. It went great until I got home and loaded the pictures on my computer and saw that I had accidentally changed a setting and they were all out of focus. In their gracious kindness, they were available to meet me the following day to do it over. And while their youngest was not as cheery as the prior day, the other kids and I sure had a blast - they were already comfortable with me since we had been together the day before.

So, I say again, I have fantastic clients and I am so thankful for their kindness to me in regards to this session!

It's time to get serious here - I am nearly a year behind and that's a tough pill to swallow. So I have photographed this wonderful family before in the studio and this time we opted to go outdoors for a beautiful Fall day.

Lauren was walking easily holding onto Mom & Dad's hands, but didn't start walking independently until a couple days after our session - but that meant it was a bit easier for me! In case you didn't know, Lauren has had heart surgery and so some of her development is a bit behind because of that, but she is doing great and is just so super sweet!

After being at the South entrance of Campbell Valley Park, we went to the North entrance to find a tree they had planted in remembrance of a baby they lost, so that was a very special part of the photoshoot for all of us!

{Family} Chris & Shereen

As I write this post on February 15th, Alex and Chloe turned one and we celebrated them today, snot, coughs and all. But this session was back in October when they were 8 months old, on a bit of a fresh day at Jericho Beach. In somewhat typical fashion, Alex hadn't napped well and was tired and not thrilled with what we wanted her to do. However, I am grateful for my camera's shutter speed and out of the few hundred pictures I took, we got a pretty decent representation of these twinsies and their parents.

In case you're new here, these are my nieces! And we sure love them to pieces. With our other two nieces living in Ontario, these are the first family babies we've been able to really watch grow on a regular basis and it is crazy to think that they are already one.

Hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking them! Love you guys!

(For reference sake, Alex is in the pink dress and Chloe's wearing the salmon-colored dress)

{Couples} Gary & Karin

Do you remember the recent blog post about Reid, Brenda and their son, K? And I mentioned that my husband and I met Reid & Brenda in person for the first time at another blogger-friends wedding? Well, that was Gary & Karin's daughter; and now I go to church with Gary & Karin. I'd like to reference the "Mennonite Circle" here, even though I'm Dutch (which has an equal amount of crazy connections amongst it), it's incredible how people are connected to each other.

Gary & Karin have now celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, and though they took their family on a lovely holiday to celebrate, this was about just the two of them. It was a mini session at Ellwood Park and it was so wonderful! You don't have to have known them for very long to see that they love and treasure each other. They are so sweet to each other and Gary was trying to sneak in a kiss at any opportunity!

Happy 40th Anniversary to the two of you - may God continue to bless you and your marriage!
