This was another fun session for me because Genny and I first met through our First Time Mom's group at church, have walked together some, are now in the same Bible Study group together and our girls are finishing up swimming lessons together.
When we first scheduled this session, it was going to be just Genny and the girls as Jon was to be away for work, but last minute it worked out to have him come and I'm so glad it did! It was so fun to watch the girls go from super shy (they had just woken up from a short nap during the drive) to wildly outgoing. The level of comfort came pretty quick, but also meant a lot of running from the camera. However, the girls had their superstar moments and definitely rocked some great shots.
This was also my first session at Campbell Valley Park and it's just so beautiful there. I have been there before with my family, but it was so great seeing it in the perfect evening sunlight hour with this beautiful family. We ran into one of my photography mentors from GC Photography, and more than the pleasantness of seeing her, it proved to be a huge blessing near the end of our session...keep looking and reading to hear the story!
Thanks Jon & Genny for meeting up with me last week - it was such an enjoyable evening with you four!
{I can't remember what they were staring at so intently, but it's cute!}
{I hope you guys don't mind that I posted a kissing picture - it's so cute, and I love the flower you're holding, Genny}
{Aren't these girls just gorgeous with their long hair and blue eyes?}
{I love the variety of buildings in this location}
{Definitely a favorite!}
{See Genny's beautiful wedding rings on the window sill here? Well, we continued on with our pictures while they stayed put. As we were walking away, the other group getting photos done spotted them and asked if they belonged to one of us. HELLO GRATITUDE! And a mental note to self to never forget a client's rings anywhere!}
{I seem to photograph a lot of people with amazing eyes}

{Family} Brent, Anj & Reigan
This was an awesome session. Not only am I good friends with the couple, but Anj is the one who really got me back into photography by asking me to assist her for a wedding last summer, who has given me countless bits of advice and help towards getting started up. That also means there's a touch of pressure photographing your mentor, but it didn't take long to feel comfortable directing them or using Anj's camera (what a dream!!!).
These three are so photogenic and beautiful, and the love Brent and Anj have for Reigan is so intense and obvious - this is one very loved little girl. And for good reason - she's super adorable and so happy! What a joy and privilege to photograph you guys - thank you for meeting up with me for this session.
{My personal favorite!}
{I discovered that Brent is very conscientious about first discoveries for Reigan, and this was her first experience with bubbles}
{Another first as we left the area - the water fountain}

New Logo
I somehow missed out on announcing my new logo for blue melon photography, that you can see on my header. It was designed by my very talented friend, Jay, over at JayBird Creations. I love it so much and I'm very excited to get to use it as my new watermark on my most recent photo shoot that I hope to have up here in a week or so.
Isn't it fabulous? Thank you so much, Jay, for nailing exactly what I was looking for!

{Family} Chris & Myrna
About a month ago, I had the privilege of taking photos for my cousin and her family at Williams Park. They are from Alberta, and when their eldest had a school field trip at Williams Park, they felt the area was so unique compared to 'home,' that they chose it for their family session. And beautiful it was, on a mild summer evening.
After the session, I was away on holidays, then they were away on holidays, but finally this morning I was able to drop off their photos, so I'm glad to finally be able to post these pictures here. They are an incredibly photogenic family, super laid back and just so much fun. Thanks for suggesting a fantastic location and making such an enjoyable evening for me!
{Kaylie is the oldest of the three girls, and they all have amazing eyes!}
{Janaya is the middle child, with great spunk!}
{Tianna is the youngest, just over 1 year old, and takes after her sisters in the cute department}
{See what I mean about the eyes?}
{Occasionally, there's something to cry about...}
{Not too hard to see where the kids get their fantastic eyes from}
